Acoustic Fire-Rated Doors for Noise Control and Fire Protection
Acoustic fire-rated doors are used where a door set needs to provide both fire protection and improved noise control. They are commonly specified in commercial, industrial, public-sector and residential buildings where plant rooms, service areas, corridors or communal spaces sit close to occupied rooms.
Maxium Doors can supply acoustic fire-rated door sets to suit a wide range of project requirements, helping to balance fire performance, acoustic control, security, access and everyday usability. This makes them a practical choice for projects where a standard fire door may not provide sufficient noise reduction, but the door still needs to meet the wider safety and performance needs of the building.
Typical Applications
Plant Rooms and Service Areas
Acoustic fire-rated doors are often used for plant rooms, boiler rooms, risers and service spaces where mechanical noise needs to be controlled while maintaining suitable fire separation.
Commercial Buildings
They are suitable for offices, retail spaces, leisure facilities and mixed-use developments where noise transfer between areas could affect comfort, privacy or usability.
Communal Corridors and Shared Spaces
In apartment blocks, student accommodation and public buildings, acoustic fire-rated doors can help manage noise between communal routes, service areas and occupied spaces.
Machinery and Equipment Rooms
Where machinery, ventilation systems, pumps or building services create noise, acoustic fire-rated door sets can help reduce disruption while supporting fire safety requirements.
Schools, Healthcare and Public-Sector Buildings
These doors can be specified for busy environments where fire safety, noise control, durability and regular access all need to be considered together.

Product Details
Acoustic fire-rated doors are designed for openings where both noise control and fire protection need to be considered as part of the same specification. They are typically used in commercial, industrial, communal and public-sector buildings where plant, services or machinery areas sit close to occupied spaces.
Each door set can be specified to suit the opening, location and intended use, with options available for door format, hardware, locking, thresholds, finishes and access requirements. This allows the door to work as part of the wider building design, rather than being treated as a standard fire door with limited acoustic consideration.
Suitable technical options may include:
- Single and double acoustic fire-rated door sets
- Options for internal or external applications
- Suitable acoustic and fire-rated sealing arrangements
- Secure locking and access control options
- Choice of finishes to suit the building
- Compatible hardware and ironmongery
- Vision panel options where appropriate
- Specification support for new-build and replacement projects
These doors are a practical option where fire safety, sound reduction, security and day-to-day access all need to be balanced. They are particularly useful for plant rooms, service areas, communal routes and other locations where a basic fire door may not provide the level of acoustic performance required.
