They are perfect for:- Plant Rooms and Generator Rooms: Provide essential ventilation while ensuring fire resistance in rooms housing sensitive and high-heat equipment.
- Boiler Houses: Maintain airflow and reduce heat build-up while complying with fire-safety standards.
- Data Centres and IT Rooms: Protect vital equipment with doors that provide airflow to prevent overheating while maintaining certified fire protection.
- Industrial Units and Factories: Enhance safety and operational efficiency in busy industrial environments.
- Public Buildings and Commercial Complexes: Balance ventilation and fire resistance in accordance with applicable fire-safety requirements.
Louvre Panel Sizes and Positions
Our fire-rated steel doors can be manufactured with a range of louvre-panel sizes and configurations. Typical panel sizes include:- 305 × 305mm
- 457 × 457mm
- 600 × 600mm
- 457 × 1500mm
Balancing Fire Protection with Ventilation
Fire-rated louvre doors are designed for locations where continuous ventilation is required without compromising the fire performance of the doorset. The louvre panel incorporates an intumescent system that allows normal airflow during everyday use but reacts when exposed to heat, helping to maintain the integrity of the fire compartment.
This makes fire-rated louvre doors particularly suitable for plant rooms, boiler rooms, generator rooms, service areas and other spaces containing heat-producing equipment.
Calculating the Required Airflow
The correct louvre size should be selected according to the airflow requirements of the room and the equipment it contains. A larger visible louvre does not necessarily provide an equivalent free-air area, so the required ventilation should be calculated as part of the specification process.
Fire certification also determines the minimum area of solid door leaf required around the louvre panel. Consequently, the size of louvre that can be fitted will depend on the dimensions and configuration of the doorset.
Maxium Doors can help assess your ventilation requirements and recommend a suitable louvre size, door configuration and fire-resistance specification.
